Diane Arbus
For me Diane Arbus work is still very contemporary.
Her simple and rough images
concentrate on basic emotions and conditions in life.
They were the first of their kind and still are unique.
Maybe their magic is to hard to copy.

Diane Arbus: “The thing that’s important to know is that you never know. You’re always sort of feeling your way. “
There are so many matters we never talk about.

Diane Arbus: “I really believe there are things nobody would see if I didn’t photograph them.”

Diane Arbus: “A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you the less you know. “
A successful photograph doesn´t tell the truth.
Neither does it tell us about reality.
A successful photograph is about the ideas or feelings
the photographer connects with reality.

Diane Arbus: “Nothing is ever the same as they said it was.”

Francesca Woodman/ lost.
There is nothing romantic about mental or material misery, not to speak about a deadly jump out of a window. Just to stress my point: Francesca Woodman, the creator of the following elegiac and sweet image might as well could have placed herself in the way of a monstrous wrecker’s ball.
